EducationMarin County, just across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco, is one of the most beautiful places in Northern California, and has one of the finest climates. Generally, temperatures are moderate and vary little from season to season. Marin's hilly interior provides protection from the chilly ocean breezes, except along the coast, where it is often foggy in the summer months. The county is mainly residential and recreational, with ranching and dairy farms in West Marin. The Pacific Ocean is Marin's western boundary with dramatic coastlines, redwood forests and beautiful vistas.
The eastern boundary is the San Francisco Bay with sailboats, commercial ships, ferries and water sport activity daily. A large part of the 520 square miles of Marin County is Golden Gate National Recreation Area, parks and protected wetlands. Hiking and biking trails, outdoor sports galore, farmers' markets, art fairs, film festivals, opera and jazz in local parks, golf courses, tennis and swim clubs, ballet, theatres, wonderful restaurants and the close proximity of San Francisco and the Napa/Sonoma wine country all make living in Marin like being on vacation every day.
